Frequently asked questions about SMA
About SMA
Who is SMA Gebäudereinigung GmbH?
SMA Gebäudereinigung GmbH is a family-run construction site and building services company from Bad Marienberg in the Westerwald region. Since 1999, SMA has delivered final construction cleaning, fit-out, demolition and site services for general contractors, modular builders and industry with more than 70 in-house staff.
Where does SMA operate?
SMA is based in Bad Marienberg (Rhineland-Palatinate) and works with its own team throughout Germany as well as in Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux countries.
Which clients does SMA work for?
SMA primarily works as a subcontractor for general contractors and construction companies, as well as modular and container building manufacturers – including ZÜBLIN, Max Bögl, GOLDBECK, ALHO, Kleusberg and Deutsche Industriebau. Its clients also include industrial companies, operators and public-sector organisations.
What makes SMA different from a conventional cleaning company?
SMA bundles all operational construction site services in one contract with one contact: from demolition and fit-out through cleaning during construction to final construction cleaning and maintenance cleaning. Its own OPER-IX platform provides real-time visibility of progress and records.
Final construction cleaning
How much does final construction cleaning cost?
The cost of final construction cleaning depends on the area, level of soiling, floor coverings, proportion of glass and scheduling requirements. SMA prices each item according to your bill of quantities – per square metre, per bill of quantities item or at a fixed rate per floor. Send your bill of quantities or plans via the enquiry form to receive a specific quote.
What is the difference between rough, intermediate and final cleaning?
Rough cleaning removes rubble and coarse dirt during construction, intermediate cleaning keeps areas clean between trades, and final cleaning is the last step before acceptance/handover, leaving the area ready for immediate use.
How quickly can SMA start final construction cleaning?
[Typische Vorlaufzeit bestätigen.] For larger properties, SMA coordinates the start with the construction schedule and works floor by floor.
Modular and container construction
Does SMA carry out fit-out work in modular and container construction?
Yes. SMA handles drywall, ceilings, connections between modules and to existing buildings, door and window installation, and flooring – combined with final construction cleaning from a single source on request.
Does SMA also clean container facilities while they are in use?
Yes. SMA provides maintenance cleaning for container and modular facilities such as temporary schools, daycare centres, offices and accommodation – including partially occupied facilities, with dedicated teams and, if required, seven days a week.
Working together
Which documents are available for subcontractor vetting?
On request, SMA immediately provides an exemption certificate under section 48b of the German Income Tax Act (EStG), clearance certificates from the tax office, health insurance funds and statutory accident insurance association, proof of public liability insurance, and a minimum wage declaration.
What is OPER-IX?
OPER-IX is SMA’s digital platform, where clients can view progress, cleaned areas, the team on site and open reports in real time. OPER-IX is currently used in building cleaning and is being gradually extended to all trades.
